Role & Responsibilities

* Oversee month-end closing activities for accounting staff, focusing on general ledger (GL), accounts payable (AP), and revenue.
* Ensure accurate coding of financial transactions across GL, AP, and gift processing.
* Review and confirm timely reconciliations of accounting records for gift processing and bank accounts.
* Validate data from Raiser's Edge against NetSuite to ensure accurate transaction alignment and revenue import.
* Manage and document stock and bond gifts from donors in the general ledger, maintaining a detailed spreadsheet.
* Track and report on commitment balances, donor restrictions, and liabilities.
* Serve as a backup for the domestic accounts payable specialist, upholding internal control systems.
* Collaborate with development teams to ensure timely and accurate invoicing for events.
* Assist with audit preparations and maintain necessary documentation.
* Act as a contact point for vendor and internal inquiries related to financial matters.
* Troubleshoot and resolve accounting discrepancies and issues.
* Generate month-end reporting analysis for program managers and stakeholders.

Skills & Qualifications

* Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting
* Familiarity with Raiser's Edge or similar database systems.
* Experience with NetSuite or comparable accounting software.
* Solid grasp of accounting principles, financial reporting, and internal controls.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
* Skilled in prioritizing tasks and ensuring timely follow-up and resolutions.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
