Senior Accountant
Hybrid - Manhattan, Financial District
Salary Range - $90,000 - $110,000
Client Overview
Our client, an international nonprofit organization who is dedicated to providing care to those around the world that are in need. Operating in over 70 countries, the organization supports people affected by conflict, disease outbreaks, natural disasters, and social they deliver humanitarian assistance based solely on need, guided by principles of independence, impartiality, and neutrality.
Position Overview
We are partnering with our client to find a Senior Accountant who will play a critical role in managing their financial operations. The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to the client's mission and a willingness to engage in a broad range of accounting functions.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage accrual accounting processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP.
- Oversee and perform double-entry bookkeeping, including amortizations and journal entry postings.
- Process and manage accounts payable (AP), which will initially constitute a significant portion of the role. Collaborate with the team to automate AP workflows.
- Handle restricted and unrestricted funds, ensuring proper accounting treatment and reporting.
- Assist with the preparation of Form 990 and other nonprofit-specific financial reports.
- Maintain the general ledger (GL) and oversee monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes.
- Provide technical accounting expertise, offering insights into GAAP standards and best practices.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to support audits and ensure regulatory compliance.
Qualifications
- CPA designation preferred, particularly with nonprofit experience.
- Familiarity with restricted and unrestricted fund accounting, as well as Form 990 preparations
- Proficient in accrual accounting, amortizations, and double-entry bookkeeping.
- NetSuite ERP experience
